Quantum Technologies take center stage at the Catalonia stand at the Smart City Expo World Congress
Hble Roger Torrent, Conseller of Business and Labor, inaugurates the Catalonia stand and the ICFO demo showcasing Quantum Technologies
The Conseller of Business and Labor of the Regional Government of Catalonia, Roger Torrent i Ramió, together with the Secretary of Digital Policies, Gina Tost i Faus, formally inaugurated the Catalonia stand at the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) at the Fira de Barcelona under the slogan 'Catalonia, ready for the next quantum leap'.
Companies and technological centers are exhibiting their services and innovative solutions in the Government’s space, with a 45m2 immersive audio-visual demo created by ICFO at the center of the stand, designed to make visitors aware of the transformative potential of quantum technologies and their importance in improving the lives of citizens.
The 'demo' invites visitors to explore the past, present and future of photonic and quantum technologies and discover, through everyday scenes such as an online purchase, the charging of an electric vehicle or the tele-diagnosis of a sports injury, how this innovative field will evolve over the coming years to bring benefits such as ultra-secure and fast communication, medical treatments and diagnoses in real time with revolutionary devices and technologies, and more efficient, sustainable and clean mobility.
The central position of the this 'quantum zone' in the stand, including the ICFO demo and annexed space where ICFO and ICFO spin-off companies Quside and LuxQuanta offer information on the research, development and applications of quantum technologies, highlights the pioneering role of the Generalitat de Catalunya , in collaboration with the quantum ecosystem, in the promotion and development of innovations in this field of technology.
