ICFO Welcomes Secretary General of the Department of Business and Labor and the Secretary of Digital Policies of the Generalitat of Catalonia
Oriol Sagrera and Georgina Tost visit ICFO to learn about research programs related to quantum secure communications
ICFO was pleased to welcome to our institute the Secretary General of the Department of Business and Labor, Oriol Sagrera i Saula and the Secretary of Digital Policies, Georgina Tost i Faus of the Generalitat de Catalonia. Having already carried out successful collaborations between ICFO and the Department of Business and Labor such as the 'Quantum Cryptography in Critical Communications' project, an initiative whose objective is to develop and validate a system of quantum keys for the encryption and ultra-secure transmission of critical information, this visit was an opportunity to discuss ongoing areas of mutual interests.
ICFO’s director, Lluis Torner, offered a guided tour of the institute, presenting programs associated with “Quantica – Mediterranean Valley of Science and Quantum Technologies”. They visited the laboratory that hosts QUIONE in which ICFOnians led by ICREA Prof at ICFO Leticia Tarruell are working to configure a quantum simulator that will facilitate the understanding of the behavior of materials and their properties. Likewise, they discussed successful technology transfer activities in the area of quantum technologies with members of the KTT team and the CEOs of ICFO spin-off off companies Quside Technologies and LuxQuanta.
This visit allowed ICFO to present its expertise specifically related to quantum secure technologies, giving an overview of some of the exciting programs underway at the institute.
