All day
Place: ICFO Auditorium
ICFO-AMOLF Frontiers Research School: Light for Energy and Information processing
This 3-day international school will cover topics including:
- Electron-photon interactions
- Light harvesting and energy conversion
- Nanoscale quantum light-matter interactions
- Chirality, non-reciprocality & topology
- Optomechanics & optoelectronics
The event will also include networking sessions, student talks and a poster session where participants will have the opportunity to interact and present their own research.
This school brings together PhD students from both institutes and offers a great opportunity for networking and scientific discussions. The school program is composed of tutorials given by teams of ICFO/AMOLF group leaders, as well as seminar by each of the group leaders.
All participants are encouraged to present their research work!

About:
Frontiers Research Schools on the Frontiers of Light aim at giving talented young researchers and students worldwide a first introduction to a thematic research area and a taste of an international research environment. These schools incorporate a dynamic and social learning environment beyond participating in lectures, including group discussions, direct interactions with the lecturers, student talks and poster presentations.
ICFO does not tolerate any type of conduct or behavior considered harassment or bullying and has clearly defined policies against harassment.
Participating Institutions :
- ICFO – The Institute of Photonics Sciences is a young research institution that aims to advance the very limits of the science and technology of light, tackling important challenges faced by society at large in all areas of life, including health, energy, information, safety, security and caring for the environment. ICFO is a member of BIST, the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology, and is situated in Castelldefels, a small town located by the sea just outside of Barcelona, Spain.
- AMOLF - Physics of functional complex matter is a research institute and part of the institutes organization of the Dutch Research Council (NWO). AMOLF carries out fundamental research on the physics and design principles of natural and man-made complex matter. AMOLF uses these insights to create novel functional materials and find new solutions to societal challenges in renewable energy, green ICT and healthcare. AMOLF is located at the Amsterdam Science Park.
Scientific Organisers:
ICREA Prof. Dr. Niek van Hulst, Prof. Dr. Nicoletta Liguori, Prof. Dr. Robert Sewell (ICFO), and Prof. Dr. Esther Alarcón Lladó, Prof. Dr. Albert Polman (AMOLF).
