Quantum optical phenomena at the nanoscale

Quantum aspects of light manifest in a variety of nanoscale phenomena, including photon and polariton entanglement, vacuum friction, the dynamical Casimir effect, quantum electron tunneling, ultrafast carrier dynamics, and innovative approaches to enhance the nonlinear optical response of engineered materials.

These topics shape a broad research agenda where we integrate both quantum and classical treatments of light and atomic-scale structures. Our approaches include analytical methods to capture the fundamental physics as well as large-scale numerical computations for analyzing realistic physical configurations.
