Nanophotonics with 2D materials
2D materials produced by exfoliation or epitaxial growth are revolutionizing nanophotonics due to their unique optical properties, including the presence of highly confined optical excitations that strongly hybridize with light.
These optical modes, known as polaritons, can be tuned using external stimuli such as electric and magnetic fields, and they exhibit a fascinating ultrafast dynamics that remains poorly understood. In nanophotonics, 2D materials are transformative, enabling new functionalities in the areas of ultrafast electro-optical modulation, strong interactions with quantum emitters, and enhanced optical sensing among other feats.
