In this project, we consider the interaction between atoms and light with nano-materials.
We investigate the coupling of photonic modes in tapered nanofibers with a one-dimensional chain of atoms. In this setting, strong light-matter coupling can be achieved, which gives rise to long-range interactions between the atoms. We also study the coupling of single atoms to graphene-based membranes for applications in quantum opto-mechanics and high-resolution mass detection. Also, we look at strong laser field processes and effects, like the high harmonic generation, above threshold ionization,
